WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Gannon University defeated host West Chester University, 3-1, in a PSAC crossover match inside Sturzebecker Health Science Center Friday evening.
West Chester (20-7, 9-6 PSAC) remains in first place in the Southeastern Division of the PSAC standings. Gannon (22-5, 11-3) leads the Northwest Division. The Golden Rams will have Senior Day on Saturday when they host Mercyhurst. Gannon took the match 25-18, 17-25, 26-24, 25-18.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gannon won the first set, and West Chester took the second set to draw the match even. Gannon then swept the next two matches.
- West Chester came from behind in the third set, trailing 24-20, and tied the match at 24-all. However, the Golden Knights rallied for two straight points for the win.
- Gannon out-hit West Chester .255 to .138. The rest of the statistics were rather even with the Golden Knights showing a large margin in digs.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Karleigh Lutz, Tori Cruciani and Abbie Dischert each were in double digits in kills with 11, 10 and 10, respectively.
- Jillian Grammer had 36 assists
- Nicki Yates had 24 digs.
