Men's Tennis Finishes 2017 Strorng With 7-2 Win At Bloomfield

 

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The West Chester University men's tennis team finished out the regular season with a victory over non-league opponent Bloomfield College, 7-2, Monday afternoon on the road.

West Chester (3-13) earned two out of the three doubles matches as well as taking five of the six singles matches.

Sr., Norman Patten (Warminister, Pa./Council Rock South) teamed up with Charlie Rushing (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) in the first doubles match to take a 9-8 decision over Bloomfield's Vadim Kustov and Thulani Hove. Patten also took the first singles match with a strong 6-2, 6-1 performance. Rushing followed up with a win during the second singles match, taking the win in three sets. He would lose the first match 6-2 to Bloomfield's Ville Heikkae. However, he regained momentum taking the next two sets 7-5, 1-0 (7-5).

Sr. teammates Lucas Von der Heyde (Exton, Pa./Great Valley) and Charlie Moore (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) teamed up together in the third doubles match to take a 8-0 victory. So., Keanu Travelino (Kailua Kona, HI/West Hawaii Explorations Academy) was victorious in the fourth singles in three sets losing the first 6-3, but rebounding with a 6-2, 1-0 (7-4) win. Moore was the clinching win for the Gold Rams, taking the win at fifth singles in two sets, 6-1, 6-2. Kylil Curry (Coatesville, Pa./ Coatesville) also earned a victory in the last singles match, controlling his opponent with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
