WEST CHESTER, Pa. – No. 3 West Chester had the lead in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) conference opener this afternoon at Vonnie Gros Field, but could not hold on as Slippery Rock's (6-3, 1-0 PSAC) late surge downed the Golden Rams (5-2, 0-1 PSAC) by a final score of 4-3.
How it happened
- West Chester took an early lead less than seven minutes into the game as Mackenzie Mlkvy (Berlin, N.J./Eastern) knocked in a rebound to make it 1-0. Credited with an assist on the play was junior Kaitlin Hatch (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.).
- Slippery Rock answered nearly 20 minutes later to even it at one apiece.
- At the half the scoreboard read 1-1, but that did not last long.
- Hatch registered the go-ahead goal after the 36:48 mark.
- However, Slippery Rock's Brittany Morgan answered less than 30 seconds later.
- Sr., F Rachal Toppi (Glassboro, NJ./Glassboro) tallied her team-high eighth goal of the season to give the Golden Rams a 3-2 advantage with 15 minutes left.
- Slippery Rock tied it up, thanks to Allison Grant's first goal of the season at 63:48.
- The game winner was provided by Kailee Krupski to earn the victory.

- The Golden Rams outshot Slippery Rock 22-6, while also having a 16-7 with shots on goal.
- West Chester managed an edge in penalty corners as well at 17-2.
- Slippery Rock's pair of goalkeepers made 13 saves, nine of which coming from Nicole Bream. Maddie Murphy played the final 14:53 to preserve the victory.
- Jr., GK Marissa Elizardo (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) generated three saves, while surrendering four goals in the loss.
