West Chester Edged by Millersville, 1-0

MILLERSVILLE, Pa-On Wednesday afternoon the No. 6 West Chester University field hockey team (5-3, 0-2 PSAC) traveled to PSAC Rival Millersville (4-3, 1-1 PSAC) for a crucial midweek PSAC battle. Millersville would prevail by a final score of 1-0.

How it Happened:

• Millersville broke through in the 17^th minute when Alexis Gazzio took a pass from Erica Tarsi and one timed it past Marissa Elizardo(North Wales, Pa./North Penn) to give the Marauders a 1-0 lead.
• The Golden Rams would apply pressure throughout the game but it would not be enough to earn the victory as Millersville's defense would stand tall down the stretch to preserve the 1-0 victory.
• Elizardo worked hard in goal all day recording seven saves including some impressive saves down the stretch to keep her mates within striking distance.

Inside the Numbers:

• West Chester and Millersville both recorded 12 shots although Millersville did hold an eight to four advantage in shots on goal.
• West Chester held a slight edge in penalty corners as they recorded seven while Millersville had six.
