West Chester Falls to NYU on Saturday Afternoon

WEST CHESTER, Pa.-
The West Chester University men's swimming and diving team was back in action on Saturday afternoon in a special senior day meet against NYU. NYU was ultimately victorious in this meet as they defeated the Golden Rams by a score of 199-98.

In the 200 yard medley relay West Chester took first and fourth as the first place team of Kohle Kerchner (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg), Thomas McCormick (West Chester, Pa./Henderson), Pijus Mackevicius (Kaunas, Lithuania), and Evan Sherkness (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) swam a time of 1:33.76 to earn the victory while Sean Bell (Columbia, S.C./Blythewood), Jarod Anderson (Newville, Pa./Big Spring), Shota Nakano (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey), and Michael Kane (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) finished in fourth with a time of 1:36.75.

In the 1000 yard freestyle Dylan North (Airville, Pa./Red Lion) finished in third with a time of 10:02.12 while Timmy Tomsuden (Marriotsville, Md./Liberty) finished in fourth with a  time of 10:13.80. Keir Uhlin (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) was close behind as he finished in fifth with a time of 10:14.19.
In the 200 yard freestyle Austin Doss (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) was the top finisher for West Chester as he touched the wall fourth with a time of 1:45.31 while Sherkness finished in fifth with a time of 1:50.72. Uhlin finished in sixth with a time of 1:55.72.

Kerchner was the top West Chester finisher in the 100 yard backstroke as he finished in third registering a time of 53.29 while Bell finished right behind him in fourth with a time of 53.80. Ben Francis (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) finished in fifth with a time of 54.89.
In the 100 yard breaststroke Nakano touched the wall second with a time of 57.63 while McCormick and Anderson finished in fifth and sixth with times of 59.40 and 1:00.18 respectively.

In the 200 yard butterfly Tomsuden was the top West Chester finisher as he finished in third with a time of 1:58.22 while Mackevicius finished right behind him in fourth with a time of 1:58.76. Francis rounded out the field finishing in sixth with a time of 2:01.18.

In the 50 yard freestyle Tom Powell III (West Grove, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) finished in a tie for fourth with Sherkness as they each registered times of 22.37 while Kane finished closed behind in sixth with a time of 22.79.

Doss led the way for West Chester in the 100 yard freestyle as he finished in fourth with a time of 48.20 while Powell III finished in fifth with a time of 49.99. Mackevicius rounded out the field with a time of 52.44.

Bell finished in fourth in the 200 yard backstroke as he registered a time of 1:59.51.

McCormick competed well in the 200 yard breaststroke as he finished in third with a time of 2:09.26 while Anderson finished in fourth  with a 2:10.59. North rounded out the field finishing in sixth with a time of 2:16.78.

North finished in third in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:54.96 while Tomsuden finished in fourth with a time of 4:58.47. Uhlin finished in fifth with a time of 5:00.53.

Nakano picked up a victory in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 50.56 while Kane finished in fifth with a time of 54.39.

In the 200 yard IM McCormick was the top West Chester finisher as he collected a second place finish with a time of 1:56.34 while Doss finished in sixth with a time of 2:07.87.

West Chester grabbed the top two spots in the 400 yard freestyle relay with the team of Bell, Mackevicius, Sherkness, and Doss finishing first with a time of 3:15.08 while Tomsuden, Anderson, Kane, and Uhlin finished in second with a 3:20.14.

In the one meter diving Jonas Ricci (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra Area) finished in second with a score of 294.68 while Quinton Mitchell (Towamencin, Pa./North Penn) finished in fourth with a 236.70. In the three meter diving Ricci captured second with a 263.48 while Mitchell finished in third with a 245.70.

West Chester is back in action on Friday night when they travel to Penn.
