WEST CHESTER, Pa. -Â The (RV) West Chester University men's basketball played host to Millersville University inside the Hollinger Field House on Wednesday evening.
After being outscored by an average of 12 points in their last three games (all losses), the Golden Rams answered back in a big way against the Marauders on Wednesday. Fueled by six players in double figures, West Chester routed Millersville 107-63 inside the Hollinger Field House to snap the Golden Rams' three-game losing streak and hand the Marauders their worst lost since 1964. Following Wednesday's win, West Chester joined Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Shippensburg University as the first three teams in the conference to clinch spots in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament.Â
Wednesday's 44-point margin of victory is the second largest for West Chester this season (48 versus Cheyney)Â and tonight's win marks the ninth straight for the Golden Rams over Millersville overall and the sixth straight win for WCU over the Marauders at Hollinger. Â
The visitors got on the board first following a jumper by Conrad Chambers, but that two-point lead would be quickly erased and never regained by Millersville for the duration of the contest. Up 24-15 with just over seven minutes to play, a triple by freshman
Colin Daly (Havertown, Pa. / Archbishop Carroll)Â sparked a 22-5 run for the Golden Rams to close out the opening stanza with WCU on top comfortably, 46-20.
The home team's offense was even more dangerous in the second half, building a cushion as many as 53 points midway through the frame. Up 99-50 with 4:28 to play, a layup by freshman
Terrence Moore (Philadelphia, Pa. / Audriend) put West Chester on top 101-50 and guaranteed that the Golden Rams would eclipse the 100-point mark in a game for the first time this season.
West Chester (16-4, 12-4 PSAC) was very efficient in its blowout victory on Wednesday, as the Golden Rams converted on a season-high 45-of-71 (.634) of their shots from the field to go along with a 47% (9-of-19) clip from beyond the arc. Although the offense will get the headlines, WCU also played a stellar game on the defensive side of the ball versus Millersville on Wednesday.
