Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

West Chester Tops Gannon, 1-0

ERIE, Pa.- The West Chester University men's soccer team (8-2-2, 5-1-1 PSAC) made the trip across the Keystone State on Friday afternoon to take on PSAC Rival Gannon (7-5-0, 6-2-0 PSAC). West Chester had the better of the play for much of the game and this was reflected in the final score as the Golden Rams came away with a 1-0 victory.

How it Happened:
  • West Chester threatened throughout the contest, but it was not until the 89th minute that the Golden Rams finally broke through when Jason Pixley (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) headed home a cross from Daniel Grindrod (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) from 45 yards out to lift West Chester to the pivotal 1-0 victory over Gannon.
  • West Chester held a decisive 16-10 advantage in shots on goal including a 9-1 advantage in shots on goal. West Chester also held a 7-3 edge in corners.
  • Reigning ECAC Division II Defensive Athlete of the Month Will Marshall (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) played well in goal once again making one big save to keep the normally explosive Gannon offense off the scoreboard.
Inside the Numbers:
  • Pixley is now in sole possession of second-place on the team leader board in both goals and points as he scored his fifth goal of the season for his 10th point out of the year. This goal was also Pixley's fourth gamewinner of the season, which also leads the team.
