Volleyball Drops 3-1 Decision at Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Looking to snap a three-match losing streak, the West Chester University volleyball team traveled across the Keystone State on Friday to square off against Seton Hill inside the Katherine Mabis McKenna Center. Following a 10-point loss in the first set, WCU bounced back with 25-22 victory to square the match, but the host Griffins would claim the next two sets in a row to claim the 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-13, 25-20) victory on Friday to hand the Golden Rams their fourth loss in a row.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After the Griffins (14-8, 8-4 PSAC) claimed the opener by ten, West Chester (17-7, 6-6 PSAC) answered back with a 25-22 victory in set two to square the match.
  • The home team answered back with another dominant victory (25-13) in the third frame before closing out the match with 25-20 victory in the fourth stanza.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
  • West Chester hit .153 (43-20-150) on Friday night, while SHU tallied a .243 (55-20-144) clip inside the Katherine Mabis McKenna Center.
  • The Griffins logged 10 service aces against the Golden Rams on Friday night, marking the second straight match that a WCU opponent has notched 10+ aces in a contest.
  • Junior Rachel Robb (BLACKWOOD,N.J./PAUL VI) paced the Golden Rams with 13 kills, while freshman Julia Vreeswyk (YARDLEY, PA/PENNSBURY) added 11 kills for West Chester.
  • Senior Jillian Grammer (CENTER VALLEY, PA./SOUTHERN LEHIGH) notched her 16th double-double of season after putting up 32 assists and 13 digs against the Griffins.
  • Graduate student Nicki Yates (COOPERSBURG, PA./SOUTHERN LEHIGH) eclipsed 20 digs (21) on Friday for the 11th time this year, while sophomore Olivia Rudjord (FOGELSVILLE, PA./ALLENTOWN CENTRAL CATHOLIC) recorded a season-high six block assists in the losing effort.
  • West Chester's current four-match losing streak is the longest for the squad since the 2015 season.
