KUTZTOWN, Pa. - A pair of goals three minutes apart in the final 10 minutes of the game lifted No. 7 Kutztown to an upset over No. 1 West Chester, 2-0, Wednesday evening at Andre Reed Stadium.
West Chester (12-2, 6-1 PSAC) saw its 12-game winning streak come to an end and fell out of a tie for first place and into second as a result of the loss to Kutztown (11-4, 4-3). With three league games remaining in the regular season, the Golden Rams are still very well in the race for the regular-season title. WCU travels to Mansfield on Saturday and then returns home on Halloween for a titanic showdown with No. 2 East Stroudsburg, which now holds sole possession of first place.
West Chester limited Kutztown to just six shots in the game, five of them on goal, but two found the back of the cage. Meanwhile, the Golden Rams could not beat the Bears' goalkeeper Kerri Hanshaw with their 13 shots at the cage.
Kutztown's Mackenzie Fuhrman scored her fourth goal of the season in the 61st minute. Kyra Wozniak then tallied her 14th goal of the season three minutes later.
