MANSFIELD, Pa. -
Katie Thompson (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) scored twice, and
Lindsay Engle (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) added another, as top-ranked West Chester defeated host Mansfield, 3-0, Saturday evening.
West Chester (13-2, 7-1 PSAC) maintained pace with an idle East Stroudsburg to set up a showdown at Vonnie Gros Field on Halloween for first place in the regular-season standings. Mansfield fell to 8-7 overall and 4-3 in the conference and remain in sixth place - the final playoff spot in the standings. With the win, the Golden Rams clinched a postseason bid, which was really a foregone conclusion.
