A.J. Long Named PSAC East Offensive Player of the Week

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - West Chester University R-Jr., QB A.J. Long (Bethlehem, Pa./Friendship Christian [Tenn.]) has been named the PSAC Eastern Division Offensive Player of the Week it was announced by that organization on Monday morning.

Long rushed for 133 yards while throwing three touchdown passes against No. 15 Kutztown in helping 12th-ranked West Chester clinch the PSAC East title wiht a 38-21 win Saturday afternoon at Andre Reed Stadium. He was named the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) player of the game for his efforts in the big win. Long finished 10-for-17 through the air and did not throw an interception. He carried the ball 22 times, averaging 6.4 yards per carry.

With the win, West Chester (8-0, 5-0 PSAC East) clinched at least a tie for the division title and will represent the East in the annual State Game on Nov. 10 against Slippery Rock. It marks the second straight year that the Golden Rams will play for the conference championship and the third time in the last four seasons.

Long has completed 102 of 158 pass attempts for 1,522 yards and 18 touchdowns against just six interceptions. He has completed 64.6 percent of his passes this year and holds a 175.47 QB rating on the season. He also is second on the team in rushing with 533 yards on 109 attempts. He averages 4.9 yards per carry and 76 yards per game.

West Chester hosts Lock Haven on Saturday at 2 p.m. on Homecoming Weekend in the final home regular season game of the year.
