Tyler Morrissey Named PSAC East Special Teams Athlete Of The Week

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - West Chester University's Sr., LB Tyler Morrissey (Springfield, Pa./Springfield-DELCO) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Special Teams Athlete of the Week in the Eastern Division it was announced Monday morning by the conference.

Morrissey blocked a potential game-tying field goal with 5:36 left in the game on Saturday to help preserve a 17-14 victory on the road over Bloomsburg University. With West Chester clinging to a 3-point lead, Morrissey pushed through the line and got a hand on Bloomsburg's field goal attempt, and the ball fell well short of the goal posts.

This is the second weekly honor for Morrissey, who was also named the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week in Week 3. He is the first student-athlete to win two different weekly awards in the PSAC this season.

West Chester (6-0, 3-0 PSAC East) enters its bye week tied for first place in the Eastern Division standings. The Golden Rams travel to East Stroudsburg on Saturday, Oct. 20 for its next contest.
