Volleyball Sinks Divisional Leader East Stroudsburg on Friday Night

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The West Chester University volleyball team downed Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Southeast Division leader East Stroudsburg 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-15, 25-23) inside the Hollinger Field House on Friday night.

MILESTONE WATCH
  • Senior setter Jillian Grammer (CENTER VALLEY, PA./SOUTHERN LEHIGH) logged her fifth straight match with at least 40 assists on Friday night, as the Center Valley native put up 45 helpers to fuel the Golden Rams (19-10, 8-9 PSAC) to victory against the Warriors. Entering tomorrow's tri-match against Kutztown and Virginia State, Grammer sits just seven dimes (4,565) away from passing Lisa Yeasted (2005-08) for the top spot on WCU's all-time career assists list.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Golden Rams were able to hold the visiting Warriors (20-9, 10-7 PSAC) to a -.031 hitting percentage in the opener, which allowed WCU to take the first set, 25-19.
  • After ESU was able to squeak out a 25-23 victory in the second stanza to knot the match at 1-1, West Chester used a 11-2 run midway through the third frame to claim set three, 25-15.
  • With WCU leading 24-23 in the fourth, a kill by freshman Sarah Polacek (JOHNSTOWN, PA/WESTMONT HILLTOP) would cement the conference victory for the Golden Rams on Friday evening.

  • Freshman Grace Whitney (GLENSIDE, PA/ABINGTON) set new season-high mark on Friday with 13 kills and her .522 hitting percentage against ESU stands as the highest total for the middle blocker this season.
