LINCOLN University, Pa.- Just one game after setting a new career-high for points sophomore guard
Destiny Jefferson (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) set a new career-high pouring in 27 points to help lead West Chester (3-2) to an 84-80 win over Lincoln (2-3) on Tuesday night. This victory puts West Chester on its first winning streak of the 2018 season as the Golden Rams are now winners of two in a row as they prepare for their next opponent on Sunday afternoon following Thanksgiving.

How it Happened:
- In the first quarter, Lincoln took an early lead after scoring the first basket of the game, but West Chester answered right back with a triple of its own to keep the game even early in the opening quarter. West Chester pulled ahead briefly taking as the Golden Rams held a three-point lead for much of the first, but Lincoln still managed to take a narrow 18-15 advantage into the second quarter.
- The second quarter was the turning point for West Chester as the Golden Rams outscored their hosts 29-16 to claim a lead that they would never relinquish. West Chester grew this lead thanks to a 9-2 run to open the quarter before Lincoln battled back to briefly retake a slim 25-24 lead. West Chester did not trail for long though as the Golden Rams closed the half of a 20-9 run to take a 44-34 lead heading to the half.
- In the second half, the two sides continued to trade baskets as Lincoln cut the deficit to as few as three with just over six minutes to play in the third, but West Chester answered quickly with a few baskets of its own to maintain a slim 62-56 lead heading to the fourth quarter.
- In the final stanza, Lincoln roared out of the gates scoring the first five points of the quarter to trim the deficit to just one but as was the case for much of the night West Chester was able to answer back to maintain its slim lead. The final three and a half minutes of the game saw West Chester spending a good deal of time at the charity stripe as West Chester went 8-for-13 from the stripe over this stretch to earn the 84-80 victory.
Golden Ram Roundup:
- Jefferson set a new career-high with 27 points after setting a career-high of 24 in the Golden Rams 88-78 victory over Salem on Saturday afternoon.
- PSAC East Player of the Week Gabrielle Troisi (Norristown, Pa./Pope John Paul II) continued to play well on Tuesday night scoring 19 points while pulling down 8 rebounds while senior teammate Alexis Anderson (Allentown, Pa./Louis E. Dieruff) registered 18 points of her own while also coming away with six rebounds both of which are new season-highs for the senior guard.
- West Chester ended the game with a plus-three (40-37) advantage in rebounds, marking the second game in a row in which West Chester has outrebounded its opponent.
- West Chester shot 26-of-55 (47.3 %) from the field including 7-of-18 (38.9 %) from three-point land. West Chester also shot a season-best 25-of-35 (71.4 %) from the charity stripe in the victory.
- The Golden Rams also ended the game with a 15-12 advantage in second-chance points although their hosts held the upper hand in points off turnovers, bench points, and points in the paint at the end of regulation.
A Look at the Lions:
- DeAshia Young had a great day for Lincoln finishing with a double-double while also being the teams leading scorer and the games leading rebounder with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Teammate Kenzie Spencer had a good night as well pitching in 20 points of her own while DeeDee Irwin and Jada Spencer both found their way into double-figures with 12 points and 10 points, respectively.
- Lincoln did manage to end the game with a plus-six advantage in turnovers thanks in large part to a four steal and one block performance from Irwin.
- Lincoln shot 31-of-72 (43.1 %) from the field while also going 8-for-27 (29.6 %) from three-point range. Lincoln also went just 10-for-16 (62.5 %) from the charity stripe in the loss.

West Chester will have a few days off before its next game on Sunday afternoon at home against Holy Family with that contest scheduled to tip at 1 p.m. inside Hollinger Field House.
