Dukes and Morrissey Earn ECAC Athlete of the Month Honors

DANBURY, Conn. - West Chester University placed two individuals on the ECAC Athlete of the Month for the sport of football, which was announced Thursday morning. Sr., RB Mark Dukes (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) was named the Offensive Player of the Month for October among ECAC Division II institutions while Sr., LB Tyler Morrissey was named the Defensive Player of the Month.

In the month of October, Dukes tied for the team lead in rushing touchdowns with two and finished second on the team in total offense with 289 yards. He led the team in average yards per game with 107.7 and helped West Chester go 3-0 on the month, outscoring opponents 108-59. 

During October, Morrissey led the Golden Rams in solo tackles with 13 and total tackles with 19. Against Bloomsburg, he blocked a field goal attempt with five minutes left in the game to help West Chester hold on for a 17-14 win. Morrissey was third on the team in sacks with three and was responsible for two forced fumbles.

The Golden Rams (9-0) head into the PSAC Championship Game for the third time in the last four years on Saturday when they travel to Slippery Rock for a 1 p.m. showdown.
