WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University women's basketball team (4-5, 0-2 PSAC) was back in action on Sunday afternoon looking to halt a two-game losing streak against California (Pa.) (7-0, 2-0 PSAC). The Golden Rams battled throughout the game but failed to halt their losing streak as the Vulcans picked up the victory by a final score of 67-52.

How it Happened:
- In the first quarter, West Chester went 6-of-15 (40.0 %) from the field while holding its guests to 6-of-17 (35.3 %) shooting from the field, which allowed West Chester to end the quarter with the game tied at 12-12.
- West Chester captured the lead to open the second quarter as the Golden Rams opened the scoring with a two-pointer to make the score 14-12 in favor of West Chester. However, this was the final lead the Golden Rams would hold as Cal went on a run from this point outscoring its hosts by a 28-13 margin to take a 40-25 lead to the halftime break.
- In the third quarter, each team struggled to get things going from the field as both sides shot well below 40 percent from the field for the quarter but Cal managed to perform well enough to outscore West Chester 16-8 in the quarter, which extended the Golden Rams deficit to 56-33 heading to the fourth and final quarter of play.
- West Chester shot its highest percentage from the field of the game as the Golden Rams went 6-of-13 (46.2 %) from the field, which allowed the hosts to outscore the visiting Vulcans 19-11 in the quarter. However, this late surge was not enough to bring the Golden Rams all the way back as West Chester fell by a final score of 67-52 to drop to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in PSAC play.
Golden Ram Rundown:
- Sarah Holweg (West Pittston, Pa./Wyoming) was the Golden Rams leading scorer and one of just two players for either side to find their way into double figures with a career-high 11 points thanks in large part to a team-best 3-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc.
- Gabrielle Troisi (Norristown, Pa./Pope John Paul II) narrowly missed out on a double-double once again ending the game with nine points and eight rebounds.
- West Chester ended the game shooting 34.0 % (18-of-53) from the field while going just 3-of-14 (21.4 %) from beyond the arc. West Chester also struggled from the charity stripe ending the game shooting just 56.5 % (13-of-23) from the line.
- West Chester did manage to outrebound its opponents once again on Sunday afternoon ending the contest with a 42-37 edge in the rebounding column including an 18-14 advantage on the offensive glass.
- West Chester also ended the game with a 29-20 edge in points off the bench and a 15-5 advantage in second-chance points.
For the Vulcans
- Searria Barrett performed well on Sunday registering a double-double with game-highs in both points (28) and rebounds (10).
- Cal ended the contest shooting 41.3 % (26-of-63) from the field while going just 4-of-12 (33.3 %) from beyond the arc. The Vulcans also shot 68.8 % (11-of-16) from the line in the victory.
- Cal also finished the game with a 26-17 edge in turnovers and a corresponding 20-12 edge in points off turnovers as well as a 23-6 edge in fast break points. The Vulcans also held a 42-28 advantage in points in the paint by the conclusion of the game.
