ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - West Chester University's women's tennis team opened up play on its southern trip with a 7-2 setback at Eckerd College Saturday morning.
West Chester received wins from
Rylee Power (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) at first singles by a score of 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (9) in what proved to be a very competitive match.
Elaina Rochford (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) was a 6-4, 6-3 winner at fourth singles for the Golden Rams. However, the Tritons swept the doubles matches and claimed four of the six singles to easily pull away for the win.
West Chester announced that it will move its next contest at Embry Riddle up to Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. The match was originally sheduled for Monday at noon. However, the forecast for Monday is not favorable for getting the match in.
