Video From Lip-Sync Battle
WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The West Chester University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's (SAAC) first-ever Athlete Lip Sync Battle far surpassed expectations, raising $2,076 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
One of SAAC's organizational goals is to fundraise and contribute on a national scale for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, NCAA Division II's primary student-based partnership. Should the organization raise $10,000 during the course of a year, they are able to coordinate with the NCAA and the Make-A-Wish Foundation to grant a local child with a life-threatening illness their Wish Reveal on campus.
In an effort to reach the goal of $10,000, SAAC revamped their previously known fundraiser, "Athletes Got Talent", and encouraged teams to take to the Asplundh Concert Hall stage on March 5
th and lip-sync to their favorite songs.
Judges Dr. Tammy James, Academic Coordinator for Student Athletes, Jared Lehman, Interim Operations Coordinator, and Dr. Chris Fiorentino, President of West Chester University joined the student-athletes to assess and vote on the top performances of the night. Team participation, creativity, and accuracy of lip-sync were a few of the determining factors.
West Chester University's Football team took first-place, with their comical rendition of Vanessa Carlton's A Thousand Miles, Beyoncé's Irreplaceable, and Single Ladies mix.
The Track and Field and Cross-Country duo act took second for their mix of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song, Poison's Tricky, and more, while Field Hockey took third for a Philadelphia Eagles spirited performance of Meek Mill's Dreams and Nightmares and DJ Khaled's All I Do Is Win.
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee would like to thank those involved for helping to make the event a success.
