BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Top-seeded Indiana (Pa.) topped No. 2 seed out of the Eastern Division, West Chester, 5-0, Friday afternoon in the PSAC Semifinals at Burt Reese Tennis Center on the campus of Bloomsburg University.
West Chester (10-11) saw its campaign come to a close in the conference semifinals for the fourth consecutive year and at the hands of IUP (18-5) for the third straight season.
The Golden Rams' No. 1 doubles team of
Rylee Power (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) and
Shannon Nixon (Wyncote, Pa./Cheltenham) dropped an 8-2 decision while the No. 2 doubles tandem of
Leandra Roelker (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury) and
Elaina Rochford (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) fell, 8-4. IUP's third doubles team was an 8-0 winner over West Chester's duo of
Julia Mowrey (Bethlehem, Pa./Notre Dame) and
Sofia Von der Heyde (Exton, Pa./Great Valley) to give the region's top-ranked squad a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.
The match was halted during singles play wihen IUP won at fifth and sixth singles by identical scores of 6-0, 6-0. Mowrey played fifth singles while Von der Heyde was at sixth singles.
