WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The West Chester University volleyball team kicked off the 2018 edition of Ram Fest on Friday by sweeping Goldey-Beacom 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-13) to give the Golden Rams their third straight victory to start the 2018 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • West Chester (3-0) started off the opening set on a tear, scoring the first eight points of the frame to take a commanding 8-0 advantage early. The Lightning managed to trim the deficit to four (12-8), before the Golden Rams answered back with a 5-0 spurt to retake control at 17-8. The home team closed out the opening set by scoring five of the final six points – including a kill by Rachel Robb (BLACKWOOD, N.J./PAUL VI) – to take the opener by 12 points.
  • WCU raced out to a 6-1 lead to start the second set and pushed the advantage to as many as nine points (19-10) midway through the frame. A kill by Abbie Dischert (WILMINGTON, DE. /CONCORD) paired with two GBC errors ended the second set to give West Chester the 25-16 decision.
  • With the Golden Rams up 13-8, a Lightning service error sparked a 5-0 spurt for West Chester to force a Goldey-Beacom timeout with the Golden Rams on top, 18-8. The home team was able to maintain the double-digit advantage for the remainder of the frame, until a kill by Nina Tindall (BEAR, DEL./DELAWARE MILITARY ACADEMY) would close out the set 25-13 to give the Golden Rams their third straight sweep of the year
