No. 4 West Chester Takes Down No. 5 Millersville, 2-1


MILLERSVILLE, Pa.- Sr., M Kaitlin Hatch (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) scored both goals, including a penalty stroke in the second half, to lead fourth-ranked West Chester University to a 2-1 non-league field hockey victory over fifth-ranked Millersville Wednesday evening inside Biemesderfer Stadium.
 
West Chester (3-1) picked up its first win over Millersville (2-1) on the road since their encounter in the NCAA Tournament in 2015 while handing the Marauders their first defeat of the 2018 campaign.
 
Sr., Emily Evans (Newark, Del./St. Mark's) assisted Hatch's game-tying goal in the first half and then created the penalty stroke opportunity with a shot off a Millersville players' foot for the only goal of the second half with 10 minutes left to play.
 
How it Happened
  • Kaitlin Hatch scores the first goal for West Chester at 13:20 in the first half assisted by Emily Evans.
  • Hatch also captures the second and game-winning goal on a penalty stroke at 59:49 gaining the win for West Chester University. 
  • Millersville jumped out in front with the first goal of the game in the 12th minute. Hatch's game-tying goal came approximately 1:30 later.
