WEST CHESTER, Pa.- For the first time in 2018, the West Chester University field hockey stayed home to host Slippery Rock in a non-league match up. West Chester cruised to the victory defeating Slippery Rock by a final score of 4-0.
How it Happened:
- West Chester broke through first scoring in the 25th minute when Katie Thompson (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) skillfully redirected an assist from Caitie McNamara (Buderim, Australia) to give West Chester the 1-0 lead.
- McNamara increased the lead in the 42nd minute off an assist from Lily Feldman (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) giving West Chester a 2-0 lead.
- Sophie Ruppert (Manheim, Germany/Ludwing-Frank) put the Golden Rams in the drivers seat in 54th minute scoring off a deflection in front to give West Chester a commanding 3-0 lead.Â
- In the 65th minute, Kaitlin Hatch (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) buried a penalty stroke to give West Chester a commanding 4-0 lead.
Inside the Numbers:
- West Chester ended the game with a commanding 31-0 advantage in shots and a 19-0 advantage in shots on goal
- West Chester also held a commanding 15-0 advantage in corners.
- Maddie Murphy worked hard in goal for Slippery Rock making 15 impressive saves to try and keep her team in the game but due to the offensive struggles
