Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 5 West Chester Edged by Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa.- The No. 5 West Chester University women's soccer team (5-1-1, 4-1-1 PSAC) was back in action on Sunday afternoon on the road at PSAC rival Bloomsburg (5-2-1, 5-2-1 PSAC). Bloomsburg pulled off the upset defeating West Chester by a final score of 1-0.

How it Happened:
  • The first half as per usual for West Chester provided its share of opportunities for both sides but thanks to some strong defense from both teams the game remained scoreless heading to the half.
  • In the 62nd minute, Bloomsburg broke through when Allie Barber took an assist from Rachel Clouser to give the Huskies a 1-0 advantage.
Inside the Numbers:
  • At the half, Bloomsburg held a slight 10-6 advantage in shots and an even slighter 6-5 advantage in shots on goal but McKenna Mullin (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) stood tall in goal making six huge saves to keep the host Huskies off the scoreboard.
  • Bloomsburg continued to hold this advantage through the second half ending the game with a 16-12 advantage in shots and a 10-8 advantage in shots on goal. West Chester did hold a 5-2 edge in corners but it was not enough in the loss.
  • Mullin ended the night with nine impressive saves while her counterpart Jenna Hawkins made seven strong saves of her own to keep West Chester off the scoreboard.
  • This loss brings West Chester's impressive shutout streak to a close as the streak ended at 542 minutes. This was the first goal West Chester has allowed in the month of September and it is also the first time that West Chester has been shutout in 2018.
Up Next:
West Chester will have a huge game on Wednesday afternoon when PSAC Rival Kutztown comes to Rockwell Field with that contest getting underway at 3 p.m. A year ago Kutztown was one of just two teams to defeat the Golden Rams. West Chester has already exacted revenge over one of those teams in Seton Hill meaning that the Golden Rams will surely be looking for another measure of revenge against Kutztown.
