EDINBORO, Pa.- An unusually early start time did little to slow the West Chester University women's soccer team (7-1-1, 6-1-1 PSAC) as it took to the road for an early morning matchup with the Edinboro Fighting Scots. West Chester played well throughout to secure the 1-0 victory on Saturday.
How it Happened:
- West Chester had its chances in the first half of play, outshooting its hosts by a 10-3 margin but thanks to solid defense from Edinboro's freshman goalkeeper Anna Voelker the game remained scoreless heading to the half.
- In the second half, West Chester finally broke through in the 87th minute when Kendall Rich (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional) continued her breakout freshman season scoring a goal off an assist from Linzi Wolfe (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) to lift West Chester to the 1-0 victory.
Inside the Numbers:
- At the end of the game West Chester had the upper hand in shots as West Chester took 18 shots compared to 11 for Edinboro although both teams were even with eight shots on goal a piece.
- Edinboro did manage to hold a slight 3-1 advantage in corner kicks thanks to a 2-0 edge in this category in the second half.
- Senior goalkeeper McKenna Mullin (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) played well between the pipes once again making seven big saves to keep Edinboro off the scoreboard.
