WCU Cruises By Dominican on Saturday

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Coming off two victories on Friday afternoon, the West Chester University volleyball team returned to the Pucillo Gym on Saturday to defeat Dominican College (N.Y.) 3-0 (25-6, 25-11, 25-17) on the final day of the 2018 Marauders Clash.

BY THE NUMBERS (TEAM)
  • The Golden Rams (9-0) ended Saturday's match with a season-high .515 hitting percentage, highlighted by an errorless .789 (15-0-19) clip in the second set.
  • West Chester held Dominican to just six points in the opening frame, which marked the fewest points scored by a WCU opponent this season and the third time in 2018 that a Golden Rams' opponent failed to reach double digits in a set.
  • WCU's .515 hitting percentage against the Chargers is the highest total for the Golden Rams since September 2, 2017, when WCU recorded a .642 mark against Bowie State.
  • West Chester's .515 clip versus Dominican on Saturday is just the second time in the last 25 matches (dating back to last season) that the Golden Rams hit over .500 in a match.
BY THE NUMBERS (INDIVIDUAL)
  • Senior Allie Duffy (CARLISLE, PA./CARLISLE) paced the West Chester offense with eight kills against the Chargers on a very efficient .875 hitting percentage.
  • Senior Jillian Grammer (CENTER VALLEY, PA./SOUTHERN LEHIGH) accounted for 37 of West Chester's 40 total assists against Dominican and that total marked the seventh time this season that the setter had recorded at least 30 helpers in a match.
  • Graduate student Nicki Yates (COOPERSBURG, PA./SOUTHERN LEHIGH) continued her streak of double-digit dig performances on Saturday, notching 14 digs against the Chargers to give the DS at least 10 scoops in every match this season.
UP NEXT
  • The Golden Rams close out play at the 2018 Marauders Clash with a match against Adelphi.
