LYNCHBURG, Va.- The West Chester University women's basketball team (4-10) took to the court for its final non-conference game of the 2018-19 season on Wednesday evening against Division I foe Liberty (4-9). The game was close throughout, but Liberty held on late to pick up the 61-42 victory.

How it Happened:
- Madison Torresin (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) opened the scoring as she registered the first basket of the game on a fast-break layup off an assist from Gabrielle Troisi (Norristown, Pa./Pope John Paul II) to give the Golden Rams the early 2-0 lead. Liberty answered back quickly with a 7-0 run to take a 7-2 lead with just under eight minutes to play in the first quarter. West Chester worked to chip away at the Liberty lead from this point but the Lady Flames still led 18-10 heading to the second quarter of play.
- In the second quarter, West Chester scored two quick baskets as Troisi drained a jumper before Destiny Jefferson (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) capitalized off a Liberty turnover to trim the deficit to just four (18-14) early in the second. From here the two sides traded buckets for much of the second quarter to make the score 34-21 heading to the halftime break.
- West Chester used a 7-2 run at the end of the third quarter to cut the deficit to 43-35 heading to the fourth and final quarter of play.
- The fourth quarter was a low-scoring affair early on as the Lady Flames mustered just six points while the Golden Rams scored three through the first five and a half minutes, which made the score 49-38 heading to the final media timeout. Coming out of this timeout, Liberty closed the game on a hot streak as the Lady Flames went a perfect 5-for-5 from the field in the final minutes of regulation to pickup the 61-42 victory over the Golden Rams on Wednesday night.
Golden Ram Rundown:
- Freshman Zhane Snow (Wilmington, Del./Concord) led all scorers this evening as she finished with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting while also going 4-for-6 from the charity stripe. Troisi ended the game with eight points and a team-high seven rebounds while Jefferson finished with seven points and a team-high five helpers in the loss.
- As a team, West Chester shot 32.0 % (16-for-50) from the field including 16 % (3-for-19) from beyond the arc while also shooting 54 % (7-of-13) from the charity stripe.
- The Golden Rams also ended the contest with a slight 14-11 edge in fastbreak points as West Chester came away with 10 steals on the evening.
A Look at Liberty:
- Mya McMillan and KK Barbour were the Lady Flames two leading scorers as they each registered 10 points while Barbour ended the game as the leading rebounder with 15 to register a double-double.
- As a team, Liberty shot 40.4 % (21-of-52) from the field while also shooting 21.4 % (3-for-14) from beyond the arc. Liberty also shot 59.3 % (16-for-27) from the charity stripe in the victory.
- Liberty also ended the game with a 41-30 edge in rebounding thanks in large part to a 25-19 advantage on the defensive glass.
