Muller Penalty Kick Lifts Golden Rams Over Shepherd, 1-0

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. - No. 23-ranked West Chester University men's soccer junior Colin Muller (Bethlehem, Pa. / Liberty) scored the lone goal on a penalty kick as West Chester defeated Shepherd in a 1-0 defensive battle on Saturday.
 
How it happened:
  • The defense was on display in the first half as neither team could connect for a goal. West Chester led Shepherd in shots eight to six, with four shots on goal for West Chester.
  • It was more of the same in the second half until the 82nd minute, when West Chester drew a penalty in Shepherd's 18-yard box. Muller stepped up to take the kick, and beat the keeper for the only goal of the day.
Inside the numbers:
  • Muller's goal was his first of the season for West Chester. He has four assists.
  • Daniel Good (Exton Pa. / Downingtown East) tallied three saves in net on the way to his sixth shutout of the season.
  • West Chester is now 3-2 against Shepherd dating back to 2009.

The Golden Rams remain on the road on Wednesday as they face off against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival Lock Haven University. Their matchup against the Bald Eagles is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
