West Chester Powers Past Shepherd, 3-1

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va.- West Chester University women's soccer (9-3, 7-3 PSAC) beat Shepherd University on the road, 3-1, Saturday afternoon. This was West Chester's first trip to Shepherdstown since Shepherd joined the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference this season.
 
How it happened:
  • In the 16th minute, senior Madison Baxter (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) scored the first goal for the Golden Rams.
  • By 32:57, Baxter had two goals, and the Golden Rams led 2-0.
  • Not even a minute later, junior Hannah Zach (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) scored to stretch the lead to 3-0.
  • In the 85th minute, Shepherd's Sara Hohn scored her team's first goal on a penalty kick.

  • Zach leads the team with six goals this season, and Baxter has three.
  • Senior goalie Brooke Myers (Hershey, Pa. / Middletown Area) faced four shots on goal, and she was able to make three saves.
  • West Chester outshot Shepherd 26-7 in this PSAC match-up.

The Golden Rams are in action again on Wednesday when they hit the road to face Lock Haven University for their second matchup this season. West Chester won 3-0 the first time. Wednesday's game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
