SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. - West Chester University volleyball lost 3-0 at Shepherd on Saturday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division battle.
Shepherd ups its record to 22-2 overall and 10-2 in PSAC matches with the win. West Chester slips to 14-12 and 2-10.
The set scores were 25-15, 25-14, 25-12 in favor of Shepherd.
How it happened:
- Initially, West Chester put up a fight in the first set as they trailed just 16-14. The Golden Rams surrendered nine of the final 10 points to lose it.
- The second set was much of the same as the score was only 17-13 before Shepherd pulled away.
- A similar story transpired in the third set as Shepherd only led 9-8 before putting its foot on the gas.
Inside the numbers:
- Sophomore Julia Vreeswyk (Yardley, Pa. / Pennsbury) led the Golden Rams with six kills.
- Graduate student Shaye Whiteman (Gettysburg, Pa. / Gettysburg) had a West Chester-high 10 digs.
- West Chester senior Emily Ahern (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West) and freshman Jillian Borgerding (Highlands Ranch, Colo. / Highlands Ranch) had a team-best eight assists each.
