Jarey Elder Named PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Senior DB Jarey Elder (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Athlete of the Week it was announced Monday morning.

Elder registered six tackles, five solo, and returned an interception 37 yards for a touchdown to lead West Chester to a 28-21 win over East Stroudsburg Saturday. Elder finished with two passes defensed, including the pick-six. That interception came in the second quarter with the Golden Rams trailing 10-0 and looking flat on offense to that point in the game. His defensive score was the wake-up call that West Chester needed to get on the board and come from behind to take the lead before halftime.

Elder is the fourth Golden Rams player to win a weekly honor from the PSAC this fall, however, he is also the first to win defensive honors. Both the team's place-kicker, Andrew Chegia, and punter, George Lambritsios, were special teams athletes of the week back-to-back while Ja'Den McKenzie was named offensive athlete of the week the fifth week of the season.

Elder leads his defense into action this weekend at home against No. 17 Kutztown in what is surely to have implications on the Eastern Division representative in the State Game next month.
