Ja'Den McKenzie (Morton, Pa./Springfield-DELCO) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Athlete of the Week it was announced by that organization Monday morning.
McKenzie rushed 16 times for 125 yards and two TDs to help West Chester to a 29-21 road win at Shippensburg. McKenzie scored the final two TDs of the game to erase a 21-16 deficit in the second half and spark the Golden Rams to victory. His 30-yard TD run with under two minutes left in the game extended the visitor's lead to eight points. His 18-yard run at the end of the third quarter put West Chester in the lead for good.
McKenzie's honor marks the third straight week in which West Chester has been represented on the weekly awards. The Golden Rams' punter and place-kicker were each recognized the last two weeks as special teams athlete of the week.
The 14th-ranked Golden Rams return home Saturday for a 12:06 pm kickoff opposite Bloomsburg at Farrell Stadium.
