CLERMONT, FL. – On the heels of a disappointing loss at the hands of Slippery Rock earlier in the day, West Chester (11-8) looked rebound opposite NYIT (0-4) in the second game of the afternoon. West Chester did just that as the Golden Rams cruised to a 10-0 victory over the Bears to improve to 11-8 on the year.
How it Happened:
- In the second inning, West Chester got its bats rolling as the Golden Rams plated seven runs in the inning courtesy of an two-RBI double from Jaime Klemas (South Brunswick, N.J./South Brunswick), a two-RBI triple from Bri Garber (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter Strasburg), a fielders choice by Naiya Murrey (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown), a costly throwing error by NYIT pitcher Koerick, and a SAC Fly off the bat of Emily Maseth (Westminster, Md./Westminster), which gave the Golden Rams a commanding early lead.
- West Chester closed out the victory thanks to another two-RBI triple this time from Maseth that scored Annamarie Hartman (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) and Emily Kim (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and another SAC Fly from Heidi McCollester (West Chester, Pa./Henderson), which plated Maseth to make the score 10-0.
- Maegen Kavanagh (Easton, Pa./Easton) got the ball in the circle for West Chester and pitched exceptionally well to improve to 1-1 on the afternoon as she went five shutout innings scattering just one hit while striking out four.
