WEST CHESTER, Pa. -
Ryan McKinney (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) scored five goals as homestanding West Chester defeated visiting Kutztown, 15-6, in a PSAC women's lacrosse match at Vonnie Gros Field Tuesday.
West Chester (5-1, 2-0 PSAC) scored the first eight goals of the game and was never challenged against a Kutztown team (1-4, 0-2) that was playing with a position player in goal.
McKinney scored all five of her goals in the first half, spear-heading the eight-goal outburst that got the Golden Rams going early on. In fact, McKinney tallied her five goals in the first six minutes of the game.
Tara Morrissey (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan),
Sami Barnett (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) and
Emily Schulze (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) each potted a pair of goals for the hosts as well.
Julianne Clemens (Springfield, Pa./Springfield-DELCO) improved to 5-1 on the season with the win in the cage. She allowed one goal in the first half and made four saves.
Nicole Martins (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) made three saves in the second half. Kutztown's Megan Vaughan (0-1) made 12 saves in the cage for the Golden Bears. She played a great game against a nationally ranked opponent in an emergency role.
Defensively, for West Chester,
Molly Reinhart (Sinking Springs, Pa./Wilson) caused four turnovers and picked up four ground balls while
Cate Zuccarello (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) caused three turnovers and picked up a ground ball.
