GLENVILLE,W.V.- The West Chester University softball team (4-5) was back in action on Saturday afternoon against Glenville State (4-4). West Chester captured game one by a score of 8-4 before winning game two 12-1 to pick up the sweep for the second day in a row and improve to 4-5 overall.
West Chester grabbed an early lead when 
Emily Maseth (Westminster, Md./Westminster) plated sophomore 
Annamarie Hartman (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) with a triple into right center field to make the score 1-0. The score grew moments later when Maseth scampered home on a wild pitch to give the Golden Rams an early 2-0 cushion. Glenville State answered back with a run of its own in the home half of the first to trim the deficit to 2-1.
 In the second inning, it was right back to work for the Golden Rams as 
Jaime Klemas (South Brunswick, N.J./South Brunswick) got things started off with a leadoff triple, which allowed her to score on an 
Emily Kim (Bel Air, Md./C Milton Wright) groundout to make the score 3-1 for West Chester. 
Bri Garber (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) was next as she reached on a walk before stealing second and third before scampering home on an error by the catcher to make the score 4-1 in favor of West Chester.  
In the fifth, Glenville State got one run back to cut the deficit to 4-2, which also closed the book on 
Maegen Kavanagh (Easton, Pa./Easton) as 
Jen Hanshaw (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) entered for the final three innings of the contest.
West Chester wasted little time in answering back as the Golden Rams countered with a run of their own after 
Courtney Stump (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) came into score off an RBI single from Klemas after registering a double to start the inning to stretch the lead to 5-2.
In the home half of the sixth, Glenville State cut the deficit to just once again courtesy of a two-run home run, which made the score 5-4 heading to the seventh. However, this is as close as the hosts would get as West Chester answered back with a three-run seventh inning courtesy of RBIs from Maseth, 
Heidi McCollester (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) and Stump to earn the 8-4 victory.
Kavangh 
(1-0) got the win in the circle for the Golden Rams in what was her first start of the Spring as she went 4.0 innings allowing just two runs while striking out one in the victory.
In game two, West Chester got the bats going early as the Golden Rams raced out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning of play. Garber got things started for the Golden Rams as she led off the inning with a double before coming home to score on a Maseth single to make the score 1-0. Maseth came home to score shortly thereafter on a double by Stump, which made the score 2-0. 
Gillian Thomas (Spring Mills, W.V./Williamsport) doubled the lead moments later with a two-run shot to make the score 4-0.
In the third, West Chester added to its lead as Maseth found her way home after starting the inning off with a leadoff single.
In the fourth, West Chester grew its lead once more as Garber and Hartman came into score thanks to another RBI double from Maseth, which extended the lead to 7-0 at this point.
Glenville State added a run of its own ithe fifth inning thanks to some heads-up base running, which cut the deficit to 7-1.
Maseth scored yet another run as she came home on an RBI groundout from McCollester during the sixth inning of play, which stretched the lead to 8-1.
In the seventh inning of regulation, Maseth drove in Bernstein and Garber one more time with a two-RBI single to make the score 10-1. An RBI single from Stump and smart base running from both Stump and Maseth moved the score to 12-1, which would be the final score in this contest.
Reilly Gearhart (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) (2-3) was sharp in the circle once again as she shutdown the Pioneer offense throughout the afternoon to help West Chester win its fourth game in as many tries. Gearhart went six innings for West Chester scattering base runners throughout her work while striking out three to pick up the victory. 
Kelly Tinsman (Ewing, N.J./Notre Dame) entered for the final inning of work and shutdown the Glenville State offense easily to secure the victory for the Golden Rams.
West Chester will be back in action on Friday, March 8
th opposite Stonehill with that game scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
