WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University men's tennis team was back in action on Friday afternoon in non-conference action against local foe U Sciences. Sciences claimed an early lead that it would never relinquish defeating West Chester by a final of 6-0.
Doubles:
In first doubles,
Chris Succi (Yardley, Pa./Pennsburg) and
Adam Courtemanche (Greenville, R.I./Smithfield) battled hard but fell by a final of 6-2 while
Brett Spano and
Gavin Kenny (Hanover, Pa./South Western) fell in a 7-6 tie break to fall to 0-2 in doubles play. In third doubles,
Noah Decampo (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown) and
Logan Bartholomew (Etters, Pa./Red Land) fell by a final of 6-1 to go fall 0-1 on the match.
Singles:
In singles play, Succi dropped first singles 6-2, 6-1 while teammate Courtemanche fell 7-6 in a first set tiebreak before dropping the second set 6-2. Kenny fell in third singles 6-3, 6-0 while Spano dropped fourth singles 6-4, 6-3 and Bartholomew lost sixth singles 6-0, 6-0 to make the deficit 6-0. The fifth singles match featuring Decampo did not finish due to rain that moved into the area prior to the conclusion of the match.
West Chester will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon on the road at Millersville beginning at 2 p.m.
