Women's Tennis Moves to 2-0 in Conference Play With Sweep of East Stroudsburg

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The West Chester University women's tennis team moved to 2-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division play on Tuesday, as the Golden Rams downed East Stroudsburg 7-0 at the South Campus Courts to give WCU its second sweep in a row.

The Golden Rams move to 5-4 overall with Tuesday's sweep and the win puts the Purple & Gold alone at the top of the PSAC East with a 2-0 mark in league games so far this season. The Warriors (4-5) slide to 0-1 in conference following Tuesday's loss and move to 0-3 overall in road matches this season.

For the second match in a row, WCU dominated doubles action, claiming the point thanks to an 18-3 scoring margin across the three matches.

In singles, three individuals earned sweeps at their positions, as Alyssa Skulsky (CHURCHVILLE, PA/COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH), Elaina Rochford (WEST CHESTER, PA./HENDERSON), and Shannon Nixon (WYNCOTE, PA./CHELTENHAM) all defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Leandra Roelker (ALLENTOWN, PA./SALISBURY) only surrendered two points in a 6-0, 6-2 win at fourth flight, while Rylee Power (NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA/MARPLE NEWTOWN) outdueled ESU's No. 1 Marina Zardet 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 to claim the point at No. 1 singles.
