WEST CHESTER, Pa. -
Caitie McNamara (Buderim, Australia) scored a pair of goals, and
Katie Thompson (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) had a goal and three assists to lead second-ranked West Chester to a 5-1 victory over visiting ninth-ranked Bloomsburg in a non-league field hockey contest at Vonnie Gros Field on a scorching Wednesday afternoon.
West Chester (2-0) got out to an early lead on goals from Thompson and McNamara, and never looked back against its rival Bloomsburg (0-2). The teams dealt with heat that felt like temperatures were above 90 degrees all afternoon on the turf.
How it Happened:
* Thompson banged home a cross from
Kat Roncoroni (Lebanon Twp.,/Voorhees) in the 12th minute to get the Golden Rams on the board.
* Goals from McNamara on each side of halftime upped the host's lead to 3-0. Thompson assisted on both markers from McNamara.
* Roncoroni added another tally 37 seconds after McNamara opened the second half to make it a 4-0 match.

Caitlin Kelly (Coatesville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) posted the fifth goal of the day in the fourth quarter off an assist from Thompson
