No. 2 West Chester Defeats No. 6 Shippensburg 1-0 On the Road

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - No. 2-ranked West Chester University field hockey defeated No. 6 Shippensburg University 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon. Senior Kat Roncoroni (Lebanon, N.J. / Voorhees) scored the lone goal of the contest to give her team the victory.
 
How it Happened:

• The Golden Rams struck early against the defending National Champions as Roncoroni scored through the wickets in the ninth minute. The goal was Roncoroni's third of the season.
• The WCU defense took over, holding the Raiders to five shots throughout the match.

 
Inside the Numbers:

• West Chester is now 4-0 on the season, outscoring its opponents 12-3 in the process. Shippensburg falls to 2-3 with the loss.
• Freshman goalkeeper Claire Nielsen (Wescosville, Pa. / Emmaus) tallied three saves in the net for the Golden Rams while recording her first shutout at the collegiate level.
