LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
George Lambritsios (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Special Teams Athlete of the Week it was announced by the organization Monday morning.
Â
Lambritsios picks up the first conference weekly honor on the West Chester football squad following another outstanding performance in the Golden Rams' 29-0 shutout over Seton Hill at home last Saturday afternoon.
Â
Lambritsios averaged 49.8 yards per punt on four punts, including a 63-yarder that was downed inside the 1-yard line and led to a safety on the very first offensive play by Seton Hill. Three of his four punts went over 50 yards and each of those were inside the 20-yard line.
Â
Following his four punts, SHU's starting drives began at the 14-, 1-, 15- and 2-yard lines. None of those four drives got further than the SHU 42-yard line and two of them didn't even get outside the Griffins' own 10-yard line.
Â
He continually bottled up the Griffins' offense and that was a big reason for the Golden Rams' shutout. His 63-yard punt that was downed inside the 1-yard line was the second longest of the season for the first-year punter and marked the second such punt that was downed inside the one.
Â
West Chester will travel to Millersville on Saturday to open PSAC East play against the Marauders.
