PHILADELPHIA - The West Chester University Golden Rams' men's soccer team defeated Holy Family in non-conference play 2-0 on Tuesday.
Stephen Thompson (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and
Matt Stevenson (Lansdale, Pa./Pennridge) scored as the Golden Rams improve to 5-1 on the season.
West Chester, fresh off re-appearing in the national polls at No. 17, won its fourth straight contest.
How it Happened:
- West Chester struck first at the 30th minute mark as Stephen Thompson scored his second goal of the season on a pass from Doug Goitia (Mount Pocono, Pa./Pocono Mountain East).
- Two minutes later, Matt Stevenson increased the Golden Rams' lead with his first goal of the season, assisted by Ryan Belfiore (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright).
Inside the Numbers:
- West Chester is now 6-0 against Holy Family, dating back to 2010.
- Daniel Good (Exton, PA / Downingtown East) recorded three saves in net on the way to his third straight shutout.
- Matt Stevenson's goal is his first at the collegiate level.
