Golden Rams Win Tight Home Opener

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University women's tennis defeated University of the Sciences 4-3 in the home opener and first dual match of the season on Friday afternoon.
 
Junior Shannon Nixon (Wyncote, Pa. / Cheltenham) sealed the victory with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-0 comeback win in the fifth singles position. She also paired with junior Julia Mowrey (Bethlehem, Pa. / Notre Dame) to pick up a 6-2 victory in No. 2 doubles.
 
Mowrey cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win in No. 6 singles.
 
Freshman Elaina Lee (Pottstown, Pa. / Owen J. Roberts) also won in doubles and singles. She won fourth singles 6-2, 7-5. And Lee joined forces with junior Elaina Rochford (West Chester, Pa. / Henderson) to come out with a 6-4 advantage in the No. 3 doubles spot.
 
West Chester is at home again on Thursday against non-conference opponent Jefferson University at 3:30 p.m.
