Millersville Women Slip Past West Chester, 2-1

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The West Chester University women's soccer team took to the road on Saturday afternoon to take on PSAC contender Millersville. The Marauders used a late second half goal to slide by past the Golden Rams, 2-1.

West Chester (6-1-0, 5-1-0 PSAC) came into the game unbeaten and ranked sixth in the country in the latest United Soceer Coaches poll. However, Millersville (7-0-0, 6-0-0 PSAC) scored the upset to remain undefeated on the season and take the early lead in the overall league standings.
 
How It Happened:
  • West Chester was able to attack early with a goal in the 10th minute from Katie Crouthamel (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown).
  • Minutes before halftime, Millersville's Michelle Belcher was able to score on the Golden Rams with an assist from Kay Liebl.
  • With 10 minutes left in regulation, Millersville capitalized on an offensive opportunity and scored the game-winner from Savannah Rennix
Inside the Numbers:
  • West Chester was able to hold a 6-3 advantage against Millersville on shots on goal for the game. But, it was not enough to overcome the Marauders on the road.
 
West Chester returns to Rockwell Field for its next game against PSAC rival Shippensburg on Saturday afternoon.
