WEST CHESTER, Pa. - No. 17-ranked West Chester University men's swimming and diving lost to New York University in Graham Natatorium this afternoon, 224 -76.
Freshman
Carter Smith (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) qualified for the NCAA's this afternoon in the 3-meter dive with a 305.75 score. Smith also placed first in the 1-meter dive for the Golden Rams with a 273.45.
Senior
Joao Pedro Barreto (Niteroi, Brazil) placed second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.05 seconds. Barreto scored the second spot for the Golden Rams in the 100 butterfly with a finals time of 51.92 seconds.
Other Notable Performances:
- Leo Chaves (Brazil) placed second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 47.26
- Sophomore Logan Brockway (York, Pa./Dallastown) finished third in the 200 butterfly with a finals time of 1:56.43.
- The Golden Rams placed second in the 200 medley relay with the help of Barreto, Chaves, Sean Bell (Columbia, S.C. / Blythewood) and Jarod Anderson (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring). They combined for a finals time of 1:35.62.
