BROOKFIELD, Ill. – West Chester senior safety,
Jarey Elder (Allentown, Pa./Parkland), and junior punter
George Lambritsios (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) were each named honorable mention All-America when the 2019 Don Hansen FB Gazette Division II All-America squad was announced Monday morning.
It marks the eighth straight year in which West Chester University has landed a representative on at least the honorable mention squad of the publication's postseason awards.
Elder, a repeat honorable mention honoree from last season, earns his second postseason All-America honor as he was also named a D2Football.com All-American last month. The senior defensive back was also on the Cliff Harris Award nominee list, after taking home Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division defensive player of the year accolades. Elder led West Chester with three interceptions, two fumble recoveries, eight pass breakups and 41 solo tackles in 2019. Elder was also the team's primary punt returner.
Lambritsios was a second-team All-PSAC East pick this past fall after leading the conference in punting with a 43.5 average per boot that ranks second all-time in a single season at West Chester. He landed four punts inside the opponent's 1-yard line, which was part of 19 he put inside the 20 this year. Lambritsios had 12 punts of 50 yards, or more, including three that traveled over 60 yards with a long of 73 against Seton Hill.
The PSAC was well represented on the 2019 Don Hansen FB Gazette All-America team, led by Slippery Rock, which put six players on one of the three teams, or honorable mention, including QB Roland Rivers III, who was named the Offensive Player of the Year. Slippery Rock head coach Shawn Lutz was also named the co-head coach of the year. A total of 10 PSAC schools landed a grand total of 20 players one one of the teams, or honorable mention.
