GLENVILLE, W. Va. Emily Maseth (Westminster, Md. / Westminster) hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh as West Chester defeated West Virginia State 5-4 on Saturday. West Chester closes out a two-win day and now owns a 3-3 record while West Virginia State drops to 9-11 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Madison Melvin (Tabernacle, N. J. / Seneca) led off the bottom of the first with a single before stealing two bases. Maseth came to the plate with one out and scored Melvin on a sacrifice fly, giving West Chester the early 1-0 lead.
- The Yellow Jackets responded quickly in the top of the second with a two-run home run to take the lead 2-1.
- West Virginia State added a run to their lead in the top of the fourth.
- Courtney Stump (Kutztown, Pa. / Kutztown) brought the Golden Rams within one in the bottom of the sixth as she hit an RBI single to score Maseth.
- West Virginia State responded in the top of the seventh, scoring one run to own a 4-2 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh.
- Haleigh Karcher (Jefferson Hills, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson) and Melvin each got on base with no outs in the bottom of the seventh. Bri Garber (Willow Street, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) came to the plate and tied the game with a base-clearing two-RBI triple. The game would not remain tied for long however as Emily Maseth hit a game-winning RBI single just two pitches later, giving West Chester the 5-4 victory.

INSIDE THE STATS:
- Maseth led the way for West Chester, going 2-for-3 with one run scored and two RBI's.
- Melvin batted 1-for-2, scoring two runs with one walk and two stolen bases.
- Garber was 1-for-2 off the bench, with a triple and two RBI's.
- Jen Hanshaw (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) picked up her second win in relief this season.

- Garber is now six hits away from tying the program record for most career hits.
- West Chester is now 4-1 against West Virginia State dating back to 2014.

The Golden Rams will be back at it tomorrow as they have an 11 a.m. rematch with West Virginia State. Immediately after their match with West Virginia State, they will face off against tournament host Glenville State.
