EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The 2019-20 West Chester University women's basketball season came to a close on Saturday afternoon as the Golden Rams lost a back-and-forth game at East Stroudsburg University, 51-43.
Trailing for the entire first quarter, WCU battled in the second and took a 19-18 lead as redshirt senior
Alexis Anderson (Allentown, Pa. / Louis E. Dieruff) made a jump shot with 3:46 left in the half.
The two teams traded several baskets throughout the remainder of the game. However, West Chester took its last lead of the season when senior
Gabrielle Troisi (Norristown, Pa. / Pope John Paul II) hit a shot to put her team ahead 35-33 with 2:17 to go in the third quarter.
Up 45-43, the Warriors closed the game out on a 6-0 run.
Anderson tied a season high by playing 37 minutes. She led the team with 13 points to end the year with a team-high 12.7 scoring average. Anderson also had a career-high five steals against East Stroudsburg in the loss.
Junior center
Justyn Roberts (Harrisburg, Pa. / C.D. East) had a team-high 10 rebounds on Saturday.
Troisi finished her career with 382 assists, which ranks third in West Chester women's basketball history.
The Golden Rams had a 9-18 overall record and a 7-15 record in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play this season. It's the first time in head coach
Kiera Wooden's six years leading the team that they did not advance to the conference playoffs.
