Nine-Point Effort From Altman Propels No. 2 West Chester Over Shippensburg, 19-7

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Senior attacker Tatum Altman (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) scored six goals and registered three assists to lead second-ranked West Chester to a 19-7 victory over visiting Shippensburg at Vonnie Gros Field Wednesday afternoon.

West Chester (2-0, 1-0 PSAC) scored the first six goals of the game and never looked back. Shippensburg (3-3, 0-1) responded with a pair of goals, but that was as close as the Raiders would get the rest of the way.

Devon Mela (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North), fresh off a career-high six-goal outburst in the team's season opener against Georgian Court, threw in four more goals Wednesday and now has 10 goals and 11 points in the first two games of 2020. In fact, 10 of her 11 shots on the year have found the back of the net so far. Additionally, she picked up six draw controls and has 13 DC's on the young season.

Altman scored three goals in each half to balance her attack against the Raiders. Sophomore Lindsay Monigle (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen) scored a goal and added three assists for a four-point afternoon. She had a five-point game against Georgian Court.

Julianne Clemens (Springfield, Pa./Springfield-DELCO) made just one save in 47 minutes of action in the cage for West Chester. Freshman Jessica Gorr (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) also made a save in her collegiate debut – playing the final 13 minutes of the game in relief of Clemens.

West Chester travels to Millersville on Friday for another PSAC contest against the Marauders.
