DANBURY, Conn. – Freshman phenom
Robbie Heath (Whittlesea, Australia/Abington [PA]) picked up another postseason accolade when the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its Division II men's basketball major awards and all-league squad.
Heath was named the ECAC Rookie of the Year while also being named to the All-ECAC squad it was announced Tuesday morning.
Heath was also named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Freshman of the Year and first team All-PSAC East on March 5, after a season in which he led the conference by a wide margin at 24.6 points per game. Heath finished the year ranked ninth in Division II in scoring and first on West Chester in rebounds (7.3), steals (1.6) and assists (2.6) per game.
Heath's 24.6 points per game broke the school record for points per game in a season, which had stood since 1968, while his 712 total points also set a single-season record at WCU. Along the way, Heath set a new single-season scoring mark for a freshman with his 712 points as well.
Heath scored 50 points in a 100-97 win over Bloomsburg University on February 15. He became the first West Chester player since 1952, and only the second all-time, to reach 50 points in a game.
The Golden Rams finished the 2020 campaign with a 20-10 record and reached the PSAC Quarterfinals.
