Justin Horn (Willow Grove, Pa. / Upper Dublin) hit his second grand slam of the season as the Golden Rams defeated Indiana University of Pennsylvania, 11-3 and 5-3, on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME ONE | WEST CHESTER 11, INDIANA 3
- West Chester's bats were hot early as senior right fielder Ryan Calhoun (North Wales, Pa. / Germantown Academy) delivered a two-RBI single to put his team ahead in the first inning.
- Graduate center fielder Drew Jarmuz (Kennett Square, Pa. / Unionville) got in on the action with an RBI base knock in the bottom of the second.
- IUP tied it in the top of the third, but West Chester broke the game open by scoring six in the bottom of that frame.
- Junior third baseman Matt Daller (Exton, Pa. / Malvern Prep) and sophomore catcher JR Gifford (Doylestown, Pa. / Archbishop Wood) drove in a run apiece with a single and walk, respectively.
- Soon thereafter, Horn hit the grand slam to score Daller, Gifford and sophomore designated hitter Christian Bateman (Aston, Pa / Sun Valley).
- Freshman Jon Hines (Newark, Del. / Delaware Military Academy) came on to pitch 3.1 scoreless innings in relief, allowing just one hit and striking out four. Freshman Christian Kinsley (Coplay, Pa. / Parkland) relieved him and closed the door with one scoreless inning that included three strikeouts.Â

- West Chester junior starting pitcher Zach Rice (Honey Brook, Pa. / Twin Valley) pitched his second straight complete game by allowing just one earned run with seven strikeouts over seven innings of work. He walked just one batter.
- The bats stayed hot early on for West Chester in Game 2. Calhoun plated two with a triple and later scored on a sacrifice fly by senior center fielder Brian Verratti (Philadelphia, Pa. / Neumann-Goretti).
- Up by just one run in the top of the seventh, D'Amore hit his team-leading third homer of the season to give the Golden Rams a three-run lead.
- D'Amore's home run proved to be worthwhile as IUP scored one on an error in the bottom of the final inning.Â

- Since the starting pitcher did not go five innings, Hines was credited with his first collegiate win on the mound.
- Horn tacked on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to finish the game with five RBIs.
- Junior outfielder Zach Wright (Burlington, N.J. / Northern Burlington) went 2-for-3 with two walks. The leadoff hitter is second on the team with a .561 on-base percentage through nine games.Â

- D'Amore went 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBIs and two runs scored. He's now leading West Chester with a 1.338 OPS, three dingers and 18 RBIs.
- Jarmuz and senior third baseman Keith Flaherty (Philadelphia, Pa. / St. Joseph's Prep) each hit a double in the win. Jarmuz has a team-leading five doubles and eight extra-base hits thus far.
