WEST CHESTER, Pa. All eyes were on team captain
Bri Garber (Willow Street, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) as she broke the West Chester Golden Rams program record for most career hits during today's doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom College. Garber's 245th and 246th hits came during game two, breaking the previous record of 244 career hits set by Erin MacNamee.

Meanwhile, the Golden Rams swept the Lightning 5-0 and 15-0 to improve to 9-3 on the season while the Lightning drop to 1-7. West Chester has now won eight straight games.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME ONE:
- West Chester struck first for four runs in the bottom of the first inning. After Madison Melvin (Tabernacle, N. J. / Seneca) and Garber got on base to start the inning, Trisha Kopinetz (Pine Grove, Pa. / Pine Grove) hit a two-RBI double to right-center field. Kopinetz would then score on an RBI single from Jaime Klemas (South Brunswick, N.J. / South Brunswick), who would close out the four-run inning by scoring on a wild pitch.
- The Golden Rams would increase their lead in the bottom of the fifth as Kiley Watson (Perkasie, Pa. / Pennridge) scored following an error on a batted ball from Courtney Stump (Kutztown, Pa. / Kutztown).
HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME TWO:
- Garber's record-breaking hit came in the bottom of the first inning and kicked off a five-run inning for West Chester. Emily Maseth (Westminster, Md. / Westminster) hit a two-RBI single to score Melvin and Garber. Klemas and Abigail Quinn (Cheltenham, Pa. / William Penn Charter) would then pickup an RBI each on an error and ground out, respectively, before Melvin batted in the final run of the inning on an infield single, scoring Klemas from third base.
- A two-RBI double from Quinn increased West Chester's lead to 7-0 in the second as she scored Stump and Maseth.
- The Golden Rams added five more runs in the bottom of the third. Kopinetz hit a sacrifice fly to start the rally, scoring Melvin, before Maseth blasted a two-run home run to left-center field. Olivia Mock (Clifton, Va. / Paul V. Catholic) closed the book on the inning by hitting an RBI-single to score Elizabeth Moore (Northampton, Pa. / Northampton).
- West Chester continued to press their attack in the bottom of the fourth as Moore hit a two-RBI double to center field, scoring Caroline Adams (Media, Pa. / Renaissance Academy) and Maura Casey (Hatboro, Pa. / Upper Moreland). Tori McCoach (Langhorne, Pa. / Conwell-Egan) then hit an RBI-single to center field to score Abigail Penjuke (Collegeville, Pa. / Methacton).
INSIDE THE STATS| GAME ONE:
- Jen Hanshaw (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) pitched the complete game shutout for the Golden Rams. She picked up the win by allowing seven hits and zero walks while striking out three.
- Kopinetz went 1-for-3 with one run scored and three RBI's.
INSIDE THE STATS| GAME TWO:
- Rachel Butler (West Grove, Pa. / Avon Grove) picked up the five-inning complete game shutout for WCU. She did not allow a baserunner until the fourth inning and ended the day with three hits and one walk.
- Garber went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI.
- Maseth was 3-for-3 with a Home Run, three runs scored, and four RBI's.
OUTSIDE THE BOX:
- Bri Garber's 244th (tying the all-time record) and 245th (breaking the all-time record) hits were identical. Both came as the second batter in their respective games, following a leadoff walk by Melvin.
- West Chester pitchers have now pitched a combined 33-straight scoreless innings, including four consecutive complete game shutouts.

West Chester will return to action on Wednesday as they face Wash University on neutral soil as Seton Hill University hosts in Greensburg, Pa. Game one is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
